Dental SEO FAQs
The questions practice owners and managers ask most, grouped by topic. If yours isn't here, the free practice audit is the easiest way to ask it.

General
We only work with dental practices. Our pages, ads and reporting are built around treatments, AHPRA’s advertising guidelines and how patients choose a dentist, rather than adapted from a template for plumbers or cafés.
Every piece of copy is checked against AHPRA’s advertising guidelines before it goes live: no testimonials, no misleading claims, careful use of images, and correct use of titles. You approve everything, and we flag anything that needs your own advice.
Once we work with you, we won't take on another dental practice in your postcode. We can't compete against ourselves, so your strategy is never shared or diluted.
It depends on your competition and starting point. Profile and technical fixes are usually the first things to move; competitive treatment terms usually take several months. Google Ads can run alongside SEO while it builds.
Not necessarily. The audit tells you whether your current site can be improved or is holding you back. We'll only recommend a rebuild when it's the better investment.
Yes. Each location gets its own profile, local pages and reporting, so you can compare sites side by side. Exclusivity applies to each location’s postcode.
No one can honestly guarantee a position on Google. What we can commit to is a clear plan, work done to a high standard, and reporting that shows exactly what's changing.
Usually, yes. We work with most common platforms. If your site's structure is holding you back, the audit will say so plainly.
We do. We'll interview you about how you deliver each treatment, draft the page, and send it for clinical review and approval before it goes live.
Access to your website and Google Business Profile, a short onboarding call, and a named person to approve copy. After that, your time goes mainly on approving copy.
Not always. Ads make sense when you need enquiries before SEO matures, or for competitive treatments. We'll recommend it only where the numbers work for your practice.
Website SEO improves your organic rankings: the text links below the map. Local SEO focuses on the map pack itself, which is driven largely by your Google Business Profile and local signals rather than your website content alone. Both work together, and a neglected profile can undermine otherwise solid website SEO.
Map pack results prioritise proximity. You can appear in organic results for suburb searches through well-built location pages, but the map pack will generally show practices physically closest to the searcher. Creating a profile at an address where you do not operate is against Google's guidelines.
Reviews that breach Google's policies can be flagged for removal. For any negative review, we draft a professional response for your approval: a calm, clear reply shows potential patients how the practice handles feedback. Replies never confirm that the reviewer is a patient or discuss their treatment.
The right number depends on where your patients actually travel from and where there is a realistic chance to rank. We set the scope from your audit data, starting with the suburbs closest to your practice and expanding as rankings and enquiries from those pages show traction.
Treat it as advertising. AHPRA defines advertising broadly, and the descriptions, posts and photos a practice publishes on its profile promote its services just as its website and ads do. We manage the profile with that in mind: no testimonial quotes from patients, practitioner titles stated correctly, no misleading claims about outcomes or availability.
Yes. Campaigns for dental treatments do need ongoing attention to stay efficient: negative keyword lists erode without regular maintenance, and AHPRA compliance needs to be checked on every ad variation and landing page update. Whether that is worth doing in-house depends on who at the practice has the time to do it every week.
Campaigns begin generating impressions and clicks from the day they go live. The more useful measure is cost per booked appointment, which becomes clear over the first few months as negative keywords are refined and the campaign settles. We set expectations based on your treatment, location and competition, not a generic promise.
No. Google states that there is no way to request or pay for a better local ranking. Ads can appear as a separate, labelled placement, but they do not lift the profile itself, which is why we track and report on the two separately.
The account is yours. We set it up in your name from the first day, and you have full access throughout. If you move on, the account, its campaign history and all its data stay with you.
A promotional offer can appear in advertising, but under AHPRA's guidelines the terms must be clearly stated and the offer must not be misleading or encourage unnecessary treatment. We draft every promotional element carefully and send it to you for review and approval before it appears in any ad.
Yes, and protecting rankings is a specific step in the process. We map the URLs that currently rank before the build begins and set up proper redirects. It is not foolproof, but losing rankings to avoidable URL changes is something we treat as a hard requirement to prevent.
You do, from day one. The domain, files, Google Ads account and analytics all sit under your own login, not an agency master account. If you ever move on, there is no complicated handover because everything already belongs to the practice.
Not necessarily. We work with your existing booking provider where possible. If the widget is causing page speed or mobile usability issues, we will say so directly and explain the options. Any recommendation on that comes from the audit, not a default preference.
Often not. Treatment pages, technical issues and the booking flow can usually be improved on your existing site. A full rebuild is the recommendation only when the current site structure is the limiting factor and cannot be fixed incrementally.
It depends on the scope and how quickly copy can be reviewed and approved. A focused build with clear briefs and prompt sign-off on your side moves faster than one with a wide scope and a busy practice. We set a timeline at the planning stage and flag early if anything changes it.
Usually with the website and Google Business Profile, because every other channel depends on them. The free audit shows what your practice looks like online today, which makes the starting point obvious rather than a guess.
Not always. Ads make sense when you need enquiries before SEO has had time to build, or for specific high-value treatments where the investment makes sense against the return. We recommend it only where the numbers work for your practice.
By tracking enquiries, not just traffic. We measure phone calls, form submissions and online bookings from each treatment page, and your monthly report shows enquiries by treatment type. Traffic without bookings is not a result.
Yes. Much of the work, particularly the website, Google Business Profile and local SEO, applies directly to a single-dentist practice and does not require a large budget. The audit will show where the gaps are for your specific situation.
Social media can help with trust and familiarity, but it tends to perform differently from search. Patients actively looking for a dentist tend to start with a search, not a social feed. Social is usually a complement to search, not a replacement.
